HAI Announces Diver Interdiction System
December 3, 2007
The Hydroacoustics Inc. Diver Interdiction System (HAI DIS) was introduced at the Maritime Security Expo 2007, held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City on November 27th and 28th, 2007. The HAI DIS is a controlled and scalable acoustic system that answers the question ?What do we do now that we have determined that there is an underwater terrorist threat to our high value asset??
Two systems were shown at this Expo. The first system is a completely self-contained, portable system suitable for deployment from a "quick response" patrol boat or from a dock or pier near the approaching underwater terrorist. The second system is the basic control system for an installed deterrent system operated from a command and control center within the user's facility. The configuration of the HAI DIS can be customized to satisfy the particular needs of each user.
The HAI DIS offers protection to ships in ports or harbors (Liquid Natural Gas, Container Ships, Cruise Ships, Private Yachts, etc.), Nuclear Power Plants, and critical infrastructure (Bridges, Dams, etc.). In its current configuration, the HAI DIS is non-lethal, but it can be scaled upward to lethal if required by the rules of engagement.
